Saving the African Woman’s Heart

Saving the Woman’s Heart-Africa is a key project aimed at reducing cardiovascular mortality among African women. This project is anchored in a continent-wide vision, and seeks to tackle the disproportionate burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) that women face due to a combination of traditional and sex-specific risk factors, including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, eclampsia, and more.

Our approach is evidence-informed, community-driven, and equity-focused. We aim to transform the cardiovascular health landscape for African women by building a robust ecosystem of awareness, care, research, education, and policy change, reaching women in both urban and remote settings across Kenya and beyond.

Our VisionA continent where every woman has equitable access to cardiovascular care, enabling her to live a long, healthy, and empowered life.
Our MissionTo reduce cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in African women by advancing awareness, education, research, innovation, community programs, and policy reform—delivered through local partnerships and gender-responsive health systems.
