Meet our Directors

Dr. Redemptar Kimeu, MD
Cardiologist | Researcher | Founder and Director, Africa Cardiometabolic Centre (Saving the African Woman’s Heart )
Dr. Redemptar Kimeu is a consultant cardiologist and researcher dedicated to advancing cardiovascular and metabolic health across Africa, with a special focus on women’s heart health. Trained at the University of Alberta (Canada) and Aga Khan University (Kenya), she is one of Kenya’s leading female cardiologists and a strong advocate for reducing gender disparities in cardiovascular disease outcomes.
She is the Founder and Director of the Africa Cardiometabolic Centre Limited, also known as Saving the African Woman’s Heart Clinic—a pioneering institution based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Centre’s mission is to reduce cardiovascular deaths among African women through prevention, education, research, advocacy, and equitable access to quality care. Its programs emphasize early detection and treatment of sex-specific cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, and peripartum cardiomyopathy.
In addition to her clinical and advocacy work, Dr. Kimeu is leading a research project focused on cardio-oncology and artificial intelligence (AI), exploring how AI can be leveraged to improve cardiovascular outcomes among women with breast cancer in sub-Saharan Africa. This work aims to bridge critical gaps in early diagnosis and risk prediction in resource-limited settings.
Her broader professional interests include cardiometabolic risk reduction, cardio-obstetrics, population health, and AI-driven predictive care models. She continues to champion education, mentorship, and policy engagement as tools to strengthen healthcare systems and ensure that women across Africa benefit from equitable, evidence-based cardiovascular care.
Guided by the vision “Leave No Heart Behind,” Dr. Kimeu’s work stands at the intersection of science, advocacy, and compassion—driving a movement to save the African woman’s heart.
